Carson Valley Radio Club is a traditional amateur radio club. It teaches classes, it gives examinations, it provides a repeater, it hosts a web site, it holds meetings and it publishes a newsletter. It supports DX'ing, contesting, ARES and RACES activities. It is registered as a non-profit Nevada corporation, it sponsors the annual ARRL Excellence in Recruiting award and not only is CVRC an ARRL Affiliated Club, but it has been recognized by ARRL as a Special Service Club; one of only three in the State of Nevada. In 1997 the founders felt that the Carson Valley could benefit from a traditional approach to amateur radio. An approach that emphasized progress and diversity, yet supported fundamental interests such as DX'ing, contesting, technical growth, upgrade training, ARES and RACES. CVRC membership is open to anyone with an interest in amateur radio or the goals of the organization.
